A is for: Animal Crackers Frosted ones, to be exact. Darla's absolute favorite food. She could literally eat any variety of animal cracker for any meal, anytime. She's absolutely obsessed with them. You'd be surprised just how many flavors of animal crackers there are. B is for: Brunswick Where she was born and raised! Until this fall, of course, when she started attending Georgia Tech, Darla had lived in the same house her entire life. She comes from a pretty big family and she's one of the youngest of the children, but she wouldn't have it any other way. She loves her siblings and goes out of her way to stay in touch with all of them! C is for: Camping One of Darla's favorite hobbies! She grew up taking family camping trips pretty much every summer and it's one of her favorite things to do. She's a master over a campfire stove! She tries to go camping as often as possible, so long as weather permits, and will jump at any chance to go camping. D is for: Darla Anne Funke Her full name, obviously. She actually doesn't mind her name and has never met another Darla in real life, so she relishes in its uniqueness. She absolutely loves the movie Little Rascals if only for the dear Darla letter that makes her smile. E is for: Eating Don't let her slender frame fool you. This girl LOVES to eat. And she's not really that picky either. She once won a pie eating contest and everything. But that was at the county fair when she was like, 8. Still, she considers it one of her greatest accomplishments. F is for: Family And boy, does she have a big one. Darla has an older half-sister, Addison who is 35. Then there's BROTHER 1 (2_), SISTER 2 (2_), Camden (15), and Julia (12). Addison is Darla's half sister. Darla'a mother, Jenna, was married once before to Addison's father, but the two divorced when Addison was young. About five years after the divorce, Jenna married Christopher Funke, Darla's father. The couple, who raised Addison together in their Georgia home, had five other children, Darla is smack in the middle! Darla gets along rather well with all of her siblings and she's usually the family mediator. She absolutely loves having a huge family and is glad they are close by now that's she's moved into her dorm. G is for: Georgia Tech The University that Darla is currently attending. She's almost done with her first semester and so far she loves every minute of it. She's pursuing a Bachelors of Science in History, Science, and Technology. H is for: Harmonica Not that it's any surprise Darla has weird hobbies but this has got to be one of the most random. She knows how to play the harmonica. Legitimately, too. Not just like she can blow into one and make noise come out. She actually has a few Bob Dylan harmonica solos in her repertoire. I is for: Ice Cream Sadly, ice cream is one of the things Darla has to miss out on. Well, unless she takes her lactaid. She's mildly lactose intolerant and it's a huge bummer! But the pills usually do the trick of making sure she feels alright. Which is good, since pizza is one of her favorite foods! J is for: Journalist That's what Darla really wants to be when she grows up. A travel journalist, to be exact. Darla is fascinated with traveling to different countries and would love to make a career out of traveling and writing about her experiences. She's always had a way with words and writing has always come easily to her. K is for: Kindred Spirit That's possibly one of the best ways to describe Darla. She really is a kindred spirit. Darla loves life and she's extremely chill and laid back. She has a really down to earth, go with the flow, personality. She can be a little naive at times, but she is only 18, she's still learning. L is for: Lennon Darla's bff and current college roommate. These two have been practically attached at the hip since birth. Darla doesn't trust anyone the way she trusts Lennon and she doesn't have as much fun with anyone else either. They are the definition of best friends forever. M is for: Musicals It's a guilty pleasure of sorts, but she really does love musicals. Her top three are: Avenue Q, Wicked, and Mamma Mia. She always rocks out to the songs whenever she's driving. So if you get into her car, get ready to feel like you're on Broadway seeing a show. N is for: Nerds Oddly, Darla's favorite candy. Grape nerds to be exact. But any flavor will do. Her dad used to say that if you ate nerds before you took a test, you'd do better. And, while of course that isn't true, it actually works for Darla. It's probably just a psychological thing, but nonetheless, before every test you can find Darla chugging a box of nerds. O is for: Outward Bound Darla went on a 28 day Outward Bound trip this summer in the Appalachian Mountains and it was absolutely the best experience of her life. The trip was a 28 day camping, whitewater canoeing, and backpacking trip. Darla absolutely loves the outdoors and can't wait to go on another Outward Bound trip. P is for: Piano Darla began classical training on the piano ate age six. It was her other passion, next to soccer. She loved playing the piano but stopped taking lessons in her junior year of high school. She is still an excellent pianist and plays recreationaly now. Q is for: Queen Well, it might only have been Prom Queen, but still. Darla was crowned prom queen at her high school prom and it was a huge surprise to her, actually. She was moderately popular but she was never one of "those" popular girls. The ones who win best smile and best looking in the yearbook? Yeah, you know those girls. Those were the girls who won Prom Queen. But somehow, she'd been nominated. And then even more surprisingly, she'd won. She sort of laughed it off as if it were nothing but, secretly, it really meant a lot to her. But, she'd never admit that she cared about being Prom Queen. Now that would be lame. R is for: Regina Spektor Darla's favorite musical artist, hands down. She is in love with Regina's music and if she could only listen to one album for the rest of her life she'd pick Soviet Kitcsh. She is obsessed with all things Regina and has seen her in concert four times so far. S is for: Soccer Soccer is Darla's favorite sport. She's played since about age four and she's never stopped. She's an extremely talented player and her position of choice is center midfield. She currently plays for Georgia Tech's girls team. T is for: Tomboy That's probably the best way to describe Darla. She does have some girlie traites, but for the most part she's rough and tumble. She loves sports and she loves to get dirty. She's really more of a guy's girl. However she does really admire her older sister Addison and sometimes wishes she could be as glamorous as Addy is. V is for: Video Games She may not be the best video gamer out there, but she does love video games. Well, she's really more interested in the N64 and Super Nintendo she recently dug out of the attic than any of the newer game systems, but she does enjoy a nice round of Wii bowling. W is for: Wax Museums Darla is weirdly obsessed with Wax Museum. Ever since her first trip to Madame Tussaud's in New York she finds them absolutely fascinating. X is for: X Ray Stella has broken an abnormal amount of bones. First it was her wrist in third grade when her next door neighbor Gigi ran over her hand in her Barbie Jeep. Then, two years, ate age 10 later she broke her right leg when she was bucked off a horse when horseback riding. When she was 14 she slammed her fingers in a car door and broke the three middles ones. Then, at age 16 she broke her leg and two ribs when she and her Dad got into a motorcycle accident. Needless to say, she's had her fair share of x-rays. And, looks forward to being less accident prone in the future. Maybe she's a little overly optimistic. Y is for: Yellow Yellow is Darla's favorite color. Her favorite flower happens to be a Sunflower as well! She loves yellow because it's always associated with happy things. Z is for: Ziggy Darla's dog. She was so sad to have to leave him at home when she moved into the dorms :[
